STIC Tower

This proposal for the fashion tower museum is a collaborative process between an architect, engineering university and fashion designer. "My vivid memories of strolling down this (Omotesando) street on several occasions, both day and night, has informed this design proposal by synthesizing a minimalist aesthetic strategy with a functional planning response that is delivered via a tectonic research and development shift.
A towering mix of composite materials; rigid durable concrete, lightweight natural wood, and high strength steel tendons, is clad in a fritted glass skin pulled tightly over its elegant skeletal framework. The overall structural concept is an almost invisible free-standing cantilever tower of reinforced concrete, with multi story infill working spaces of prefabricated timber components, all assembled with high strength steel tendons.
